It hits home with me as I am new to blogging (just not to writing or real estate!) and am navigating my way through a sea of online information.

Re: Don’t be a secret agent

Agree 100%, linking out is a great way to get noticed by other bloggers, and as Jay pointed out, there's nothing wrong with getting real estate agents to read and comment on your blog.

Even more important than linking out - IMO - is getting involved in blog communities and continuously commenting on active blogs (like you and a few others mentioned) - a good tip I read a while back "be the first to comment on a busy blog, and you could end up with a nice bit of traffic from a simple comment" ...I can't seem to ever make the first comment but there's always another post!

Re: Don’t be a secret agent

Jay, Nick, and Candace-

I appreciate the kind words. The post sort of wrote itself, when I found our Hero's blog.

Re: Don’t be a secret agent

Steve — This is absolutely outstanding. You nailed it on the head, fantastic article. Wow–and you say you can’t write that good, please — this was awesome.
Thank you for making it very clear as to how others can be found and no longer hide in the crevices of the dark bloggersphere!! You are such an asset to AZREBN… Yeah!

Re: Don’t be a secret agent

Steve.. Very well done. This is a great topic for readers of AZREBN. (or for ANY bloggers) You and Jay obviously do a great job in the Re.Net so it is always great to get your thoughts and advice.

Re: Don’t be a secret agent

This is a great post Steve (and thanks for the linkage!)

I know there are some folks out there that say you want buyers and sellers, not other real estate agents reading you blog.

But you've got to start SOMEWHERE. And attracting other real estate bloggers who are (generally) a great bunch of people is one way to start.

It's hard to link out as your gut instinct is to keep people on your blog once they get there. But it's *really* important. Constructive (not spammy) comments are a sure fire way to get people to your blog too, including readers of other blogs, not just the blog writer.
